Looking Forward to Wednesday - 6/30/2010

Another good week for comics, although there will be no DC bi-weekly Brightest Day or Generation Lost this week probably due to the 5 week month. Also, next week, the 4th of July holiday here in the States will delay my comic pickups until Friday so everything will be pushed back slightly. Also, full reviews will be back shortly, I've had little free time and I'm trying to reformat the way I do them slightly.  Keep checking, they'll be back soon :-)

Show & Tell - DC Universe Classics : Wave 5 (Re-release)

It’s not often that you get second chances to pick up collectible items at a decent price, but recently Mattel re-released their DC Universe Classics Wave 5 on the Mattycollector.com website for $70.00. I jumped in right away when the sale began and managed to pick up a set before they sold out the next day. Click below for a review :

First Impressisons - 6/23/2010

Since I missed this week’s Looking Forward to Wednesday, I didn’t realize how many books I had coming out this week. I believe this is a record with 13 books. The initial quick reads are done and here are my first thoughts on this week’s releases :

Comic Reviews from 6/3/2010

Once again, due to work schedules and the holiday messing with US shipping dates, I wasn’t able to pick up last week’s comics until this week. I managed to get a hold of a few to read through. What happened last week? Well…..


Jason Todd gets a little more backstory (the SuperBoy Punch wasn’t good enough for you ingrates?), Mighty Crusaders introduces us to the Hall & Oates of superheroes, DustWars goes nowhere, Future Superman goes vigilante on the criminals of Metropolis, and we witness the brutal deaths of Superman, Wonder Woman, Jesse Quick, Stargirl, Catwoman, Captain Marvel and a large percentage of the Green Lantern Corps.

After reading something on The Weekly Crisis blog, I had to laugh at this week’s very cat-centric comics. RageCat shows up, Power Girl spends some time naming her cat finally, and Roy Harper beats up some criminals with a dead cat while high. Weird. Anyway, on to Part 2…..
