Looking Forward to Wednesday - 5/26/2010

8 Books from DC, 1 from IDW and 1 from Marvel (come on, I’m trying..) make for a substantial week of reading here at CNB. I’m trying out CNB as an easier way to say the title, sort of like CMB (Cash Money Brothers) from New Jack City. Am I my brother’s keeper?? Anyway, on to the books…..

Amazing Spider-Man #607 – What?!?!? Spider-Man? No, this isn’t the beginning of the end of my DC bias...it has a J. Scott Campbell cover.

Blackest Night : Titans #2 - Probably, so far, the most interesting of the Blackest Night minis, and I'm not really a Titans fan.

Gotham City Sirens #4 - After the last issue of Streets of Gotham, Dini can do no wrong...at least for a little while.

Green Lantern #46 – Blackest Night rolls on and brings us the conflict that we’ve been anticipating since the end of the Sinestro Corps War : Mongul VS Sinestro.

Justice Society of America #31 - Is Mr. Terrific dead??? Probably not, but nice cliffhanger last issue anyway.

Superman #692 - More of the adventures of The Guardian and Mon-El...oh, right...The Guardian. Mon-El can't be dead can he? Of course not, we saw him on solicits for the new Justice League.

Wonder Woman #36 - Gail Simone puts so much good stuff into each issue of Wonder Woman to atone for the filth and evil that she crams into each Secret Six issue. Not that I'm complaining, both books are very enjoyable :-)

Bomb Queen Vol. 6 #1 – Bomb Queen is back! Now Secret Six has a wicked stepsister in my monthly comic book pile. This title gets more and more harsh as each volume progresses so I’m curious as to what debauchery volume 6 will bring.

GI Joe : Cobra Special #1 - Following up on the events of the GI Joe : Cobra mini a few months back, will Chuckles get out of this situation alive?

Looking Forward to Wednesday - 9/23/2009

A light week compared to some of the previous ones. 6 books coming out with one non-DC title! No, it's still not Marvel. There's just nothing that Marvel has going on right now that interests me. Although I am getting near my annual "Hey, maybe I'll try a Marvel title" time again, do who knows what it will be.

Since it is looking to be a slow week, there may be a certain variant cover from a certain super-heroine with the intials PG for a certain wife of mine who collects such things :-) Click below for this week's books.

Most Anticipated Book :

Power Girl #5 – This book came out of the gate kicking ass and has not stopped since. This issue marks the official start of the second story arc, after the fill-in issue last month which was excellent. Great stuff from Palmiotti, Grey and Conner.




The Rest :

Blackest Night : Superman #2 – Hopefully this one picks up a bit as Psycho Pirate Black Lantern shows up in Smallville. I’ve been a little disappointed in the Blackest Night tie-ins so far.

Detective Comics #857 – More of the most fantastic art in the Bat-titles. Decent story too, just a little weird.

Supergirl #45 – The stories in the Superman-family titles are flying by due to the crossover. I think I’ll be going back and re-reading a lot of these books shortly.

Wednesday Comics #12 – The end of the best weekly since 52.

G.I. Joe #9 – My favorite non-DC title since All Hail Megatron is winding down. Excellent re-imagining of the 80s classic.

Holding off on Superman : Secret Origin for a bit, maybe until the trade comes out. I have so many books right now that I think the 90th re-telling of Superman’s origin can wait a little while. My boycott of Justice League may be ending next month as the new team jumps on board. Can Mark Bagley and James Robinson restore my faith in the Justice League? We shall see.

Looking Forward to Wednes...ummm..this afternoon :-) - 9/2/09

Finally caught up on my posts and it's a very slow week this week for me as far as releases. 5 books in total, one of which is Wednesday Comics which I've taken to storing up for a few weeks and reading all at once. Click below for the books :

Batman #690 - I don't know, but I'm not nearly as excited about the main Batman title right now as I am for Batman & Robin or even Streets of Gotham. Hopefully things change up when Tony Daniel comes back on board. I know he wasn't everyone's cup of tea, but I liked his work.

Final Crisis Aftermath : Run! #5 (of6) - My monthly dose of ridiculous violence, explosions and scantilly clad women...all in one convenient book.

Last Resort #2 - Based on the first issue, the second one is coming home with me this week. Darwyn Cooke cover as a bonus, too.

Supergirl Annual #1 - Sterling Gates has done a phenomenal job with revamping this formerly lagging title.

Wednesday Comics #9 - Like I said before, I tend to hold onto these and read them a few at a time. Like when I'm bored at work on a Friday night, perhaps this coming Friday night :-)

Most Anticipated Book:

Batman & Robin #3
Story by Grant Morrison
Art by Frank Quitely

The end of the 3-issue Morrison / Quitely run is here. I actually was enjoying Quitely’s art for once but I look forward to seeing what Philip Tan can do…especially since Red Hood is coming back. Morrison’s take on the new Batman has been enjoyable and, in a surprising move, coherent while meshing with the other Batman books rather well.

The Rest:

Blackest Night : Titans #1 – The Blackest Night tie-ins keep rolling out. So far they’ve been decent.

Detective Comics #856 – I don’t have one bad thing to say about Rucka and Williams’ run on this story. Stunning art and great story.

Flash : Rebirth #4 – The Fastest Man alive is “Rebirthed” in the slowest story alive. Am I the only one who feels this book is dragging by?

Gotham City Sirens #3 – After the second issue I’m on board here for a while. I’m pretty much loving everything that Dini is writing in the DCU right now. Guillem March’s sexy artwork is nothing to complain about either.

Green Lantern #45 – With all of the Blackest Night stuff going on it seems like GL just came out recently. This issue will hopefully show us more of what is going on with the other corps in the War of Light….I’m also hoping for some more Sinestro goodness.

Justice Society of America #30 – So far so good on the new creative team, and it looks like Dr. Fate is coming back. Nice.

Superman #691 – After last week’s issue of Supergirl, I’m hyped for whatever is going to happen in Metropolis.

Wednesday Comics #8 – I have to admit that I’m like 4 weeks behind on Wednesday Comics. I’ve been purposely saving them up to read en masse.

Wonder Woman #35 – This is DC’s sleeper title that too many people aren’t reading. Buy this book people!!!!

MOST ANITICIPATED BOOK

Blackest Night : Superman #1 – So far, so good on the Blackest Night tie-ins. Let’s hope that it continues because I was really looking forward to seeing how they handle Earth-2 Superman as a Black Lantern. Superboy could be interesting in this as well, since I'm not reading Adventure Comics at the moment. Also, that variant cover by Shane Davis is awesome, so I may be picking that up.

THE REST

Batman : Streets of Gotham #3 – This is the weakest of the current Bat-titles in my opinion, but it’s by no mean a bad book. Dustin Nguyen’s art is beautiful and Paul Dini continues his story arcs from Detective Comics.

Power Girl #4 – The beginning of a new story arc. The first one was great, so I’m giving the second a chance to impress me.

Supergirl #44 – I’ve been picking up Supergirl for nearly 10 months now. If you told me that last year I would have told you that you were insane. Great job by Sterling Gates on turning this book into a readable title.

Superman Annual #14 – Looks like Mon-El will finally get to check out those crystals that Sodam Yat sent to him. The history of Daxam! This actually sounds pretty decent.

Transformers : All Hail Megatron #14 – Last issue was OK, so these “bridge” issues between AHM and whatever the next story is may be hit or miss.

Wow…I just checked out DC’s releases for next week. 10 books, just from DC alone

Looking Forward to Wednesday - 8/12/2009

Now that I’m back from Comic-Con I can get back to normal posting. Many, many good books will be releasing this week and here’s what I’m picking up :

Most Anticipated Book :

Blackest Night #2 – The undead (or are they just dead?) awesomeness continues (hopefully) as Black Lantern Aquaman is scheduled to make an appearance. Geoff Johns and Ivan Reis completely blew me away with the first issue and the hype was well worth it. Although this book will have quite the uphill battle to take Book of the Year because All Hail Megatron is definitely in the lead for that.

The Rest :

Action Comics #880 – Continuing the second story arc of “World Without Superman” called Codename : Patriot. This kicked off to a decent start last week.

Batman #689 – 2nd issue of Bagley and Winnick’s run. I enjoyed their take on Dick as Batman in the first issue so I’m eager to find out where this goes.


Blackest Night : Batman #1 – The first of the main Blackest Night tie-ins, let’s see how the new Batman deals with the dead rising.

Final Crisis Aftermath : Escape #4 – This series still makes very little sense but since I’m picking up issue 4 I guess I’m on for the whole 6.

Green Lantern Corps #39 – 3 Blackest Night books in one week??? I’ll be in Black Lantern overload by Thursday.

Red Robin #3 – This issue is a deciding factor whether I keep or drop this title. It’s good, but I’m starting to feel the pinch of sooooo many books coming out in the 2nd half of 2009.

Superman : Secret Files 2009 #1 – Basically a fill-in issue to get the new story arc going. All of the Superman titles have been good since Superman departed for New Krypton so I’ll check it out.

Wednesday Comics #6 – I’m behind by one week on this so I’ll read both this week.

G.I. Joe #8 – Chuck Dixon is hitting all of the great points in this series and lacing in some new stuff here and there. 8 issues in and no Cobra Commander (or Cobra for that matter) yet, I’m totally loving the slow build.

Most Anticipated Book :

Green Lantern #44 - From the previews it looks like this picks up directly from the scene at Bruce Wayne's grave with Hal and Barry. Duog Mahnke's first issue was tight so this should be the pick of the week.

The Rest :

Blackest Night : Tales of the Corps #2 - Continuing the mini-background stories of key members in the Blackest Night series, alos the second part of the three part linking cover.

Final Crisis : Legion of Three Worlds #5 - Seriously??? Wow, I had honestly forgotten that this never finished. I'll most likely have to re-read the first 4 issues today so I'm caught up. It was good though so hopefully it ends on a decent note.

Gotham City Sirens #2 - First issue was OK but I think this one is the breaking point for me. If it doesn't impress, it's off the list.

Power Girl #3 - One of my favorites right now, Palmiotti, Gray and Conner are producing a stellar book that is more fun than should be allowed in a comic.

Supergirl #43 - Supergirl has been better than it has any right to be since it's new creative team started, let's keep it up.

Wednesday Comics #3 - More giant sized comics goodness :-)

Atomic Robo : Shadow From Beyond Time #3 - THE funniest comic book on the stands continues...

Executive Assistant Iris #2 - This is another book that I may need to drop if it doesn't immediately impress, not that it's bad....I just haev a lot of books right now.

GI Joe #7 - The fantastic re-vamp of the 80s cartoon rolls on with it's current focus on Destro. This has been a great read for this 80s child.

Looking Forward to Wednesday - 7/15/2009

This is shaping up to be a bigger week than I initially thought, and these are just the DC books that I’m picking up this week. I’ll update later with the other publishers if there is anything that interests me but the main event this week is the first issue of Blackest Night. I plan on being that geek that is out front of the comic shop just before opening hopping up and down waiting to get my hands on it. Click below for the titles :

Blackest Night #1

GL #43 (Blackest Night Prologue) was incredible last week and I cannot wait to get started with what is building up to be the best DC event in a while. Hopefully the book can live it up to it’s press and Johns can pull off the third part of his Green Lantern Trilogy (the other two parts being Rebirth and the Sinestro Corps War). There is also a sweet VanSciver variant for #1 as well that I may consider depending on price. It would be cool to get him to autograph it if he’s at Chicago Comic-Con this year.

The Rest :

Action Comics #879 – This issue should wrap up the first Flamebird and Nightwing arc in Action since the new crossover begins next month. Also, I’m interested in the Captain Atom backup feature. Curious to see where he’s been since the whole Countdown thing where he was Monarch.

Batman : Streets of Gotham #2 – First issue was decent, and I loved Dustin Nguyen’s art so I’ll keep this one on the list for now. The Manhunter co-feature didn’t really grab me last time but we’ll see if it improves this month.

Blackest Night : Tales of the Corps #1 – Three stories that are meant to give us some background on members of the various Corps involved in the War of Light.

Final Crisis Aftermath : Escape #3 – With FCA : Run! being my favorite of the Aftermath books, this runs a close second. Two issues in and I have absolutely no clue where this is going but I have faith that it will tie up in the end.

Wednesday Comics #2 – First issue was a winner, I’m excited to have another weekly comic that I’m interested in.

Red Robin #2 – This is a holdover from last week since, in my excitement for Green Lantern #43, I forgot to grab it off the rack. It has been added to my list now so that won’t happen again :-)

I may pick up JSA vs. Kobra but with a larger stack this week and Chicago Comic-Con approaching, it may have to wait due to saving up some cash. We’ll see what happens.

Most Anticipated Book of the Week :

Green Lantern #43
Story by Geoff Johns
Art by Doug Mahnke

Two more beginnings here as we begin the much-anticipated Blackest Night story and Doug Mahnke begins his stint as penciller on Green Lantern. Mahnke is hit or miss for me but I’m ready to devour everything for the blackest Night storyline. This is billed as a prologue to Blackest Night and if the preview that I caught online is any indication, this story will creep everyone out in a major way and set up Black Hand as one of the most horrific villains in the DC Universe...and I can't wait :-)

The Rest :

Batman #688 – The beginning of Winnick and Bagley’s run with my favorite superhero. Judging from the preview on Newsarama, things are looking good. And I mean good for us the readers, not for Batman...he gets pretty jacked up.

Red Robin #2 – Great first issue, now let’s see if this can continue.

Superman : World of New Krypton #5 – WONK (hehe, wonk) has been surprisingly good and consistent and I’m enjoying this direction for Superman.

Wednesday Comics #1 – I was not interested in this new weekly project for DC at first, but the more I see, the more interested I become. Some of the creators are just great : Batman by Brian Azzarello, Metamorpho by Neil Gaiman, Green Lantern by Kurt Busiek! This could be a new weekly pickup at the shop.

Looking Forward to Wednesday - 7/1/2009

A fairly slow week considering what the last few have been like and what the next few stacks will be like. I’ll try to get First Impressions up ASAP on Wednesday and reviews will be up by the weekend. Click below for this week’s pull list :

Batman & Robin #2 – Good start with the last issue, let’s see if the momentum can continue.

Final Crisis Aftermath : Run! #3 – More from the villain that you love to hate. The new and improved Human Flame has a lot to deal with, and I’m loving the intro of the old and forgotten villains.

Green Lantern Corps #38 – The finale of Emerald Eclipse should give us the fate of Sodam Yat and promises to reveal the next law added to the Book of Oa. What could it be? Green Lanterns cannot eat meat on Fridays? Green Lanterns must look both ways before crossing the galaxy? No same sex marriages between Green Lanterns? Who knows? The Guardians have been tools lately so this could go anywhere.

Justice League : Cry for Justice #1 - I’m really unsure about this title. I have really grown to enjoy James Robinson’s writing, and I like the concept. My biggest problem is that this was announced ages ago and I was excited then, but not so much anymore. I’ll definitely pick up at least the first issue, but with so many titles on my list at the moment it may have to wait until trade for the rest.

Secret Six #11 – There hasn’t been a bad issue of Secret Six so far. The art and writing are just incredible and I love seeing things from the bad guys’ perspective and this new arc has begun in a very disturbing fashion.

Simpsons Super Spectacular #9 – The 3rd and final chapter of the epic, world changing Radioactive Man Event! I’m dying to find out what the big reveal will be for Radioactive Man. Funny as hell so far.

Here we are once again on the best day of the week, and what a week it will be. Hopefully I can get to the comic shop before melting under the ridiculous heat they are predicting for today. Most Anticipated Book :

All Hail Megatron #12
Story by Shane McCarthy
Art by Guido Guidi

What the hell? Green Lantern comes out this week and it's not my most anticipated book? I Must say it was close, but All Hail Megatron has consistently kicked ass and I cannot wait to see what the "final" issue brings after last month's cliffhanger "Oh Shit!" moment. I say "final" because this issue should end the main story, then there are 2 or 3 more issue to wrap up and set up the next big story. Fantastic book with amazing art. I highly recommend this title to any Transformers fan.

The Rest :

Detective Comics #848 : Beginning the Batwoman Elegy storyline. Greg Rucka and J.H. Williams?? How can this be bad?

Bart Simpson Comics #48 : I don't usually pick up Simpson's comics...which is weird, being that I'm such a fanatic, but I've heard good things lately and I'm going to give them a shot.

G.I. Joe #6 : Wrapping up the first major story arc, ths book has been enjoyable from the beginning. I love the focus on Destro and the way they keep Cobra in the background for now.

Gotham City Sirens #1 : I've been looling forward to this one for a while now. Paul Dini turned in a good issue with Streets of Gotham, so let's see what he can do with these ladies of Gotham City.

Green Lantern #42 : Like I said before, almost my Most Anticipated, because I'm dying to see where they take this after last issue's final page. Blackest Night is coming, and it can't get here soon enough.

Justice Society of America #28 : Last issue was decent, being the first post-Johns book, I'm still unsure as to whether I'll keep it on my regular pull list, we'll see what happens here.

Wonder Woman #33 : The end of the Rise of the Olympian story. Great title every month.

Most Anticipated Book of the Week :

Green Lantern Corps #37 – How awesome has this title been lately? The answer is : quite. From the solicit it sounds like this will focus mainly on the Oan riot situation. But I am curious as to what is going on with the Daxamites being held captive by Mongul. Although, after Sodam Yat turned Daxam’s sun yellow…Mongul and his crew are in for some trouble.

The Rest :

Action Comics #878 – Nightwing and Flamebird vs the Bonnie and Clyde of Krypton? How can this be bad?

Batman #687 – The regular Bat-series has returned and we have another JG Jones variant. Depending on price, I may pick it up. Ed Benes is on art duties for this issue, but then we get Mark Bagley...and I can't wait for that :-)

Final Crisis Aftermath : Escape #2 – The first issue was great but pretty crazy. Let’s see what this brings for Nemesis and the Global Peace Agency.

Flash : Rebirth #3 – OK, I love Johns and Van Sciver, but this is the 3rd issue and I’m still pretty blah about it. So, I will stick to my usual 3 issue trial limit and if this issue doesn’t do it for me, then it’s off my pull list.

JSA Vs. Kobra : Engines of Fath #1 – This is the first of the “maybe” titles. I like JSA and I like the new Kobra stuff they’re introducing. I’m not very familiar with Eric Trautmann’s writing or Don Kramer’s art, so this will be a decision made at the new release wall.

Red Robin #1 – And this is the second “maybe”. We already know who Red Robin will be and I have always been a fan of his, but will this book be interesting? We shall find out on Wednesday.

Most Anticipated Book of the Week :

Batman and Robin #1 - Those of you that know me know 2 things about my comics preferences. First, I love Grant Morrison's work. I know it's not for everyone but I am a fan (I get two Morrison books this week, so bonus). And second, I hate Frank Quitely's art. So I am seriously torn on this title right now. I am going to try and pick up a copy of the JG Jones variant cover and hopefully the story will outweigh Quitely's art, or for some odd reason, Quitely's art doesn't bother me as much.

The Rest :

Final Crisis Aftermath : Run #2 - Great first issue, let's hope it can continue this momentum.

Seaguy : The Slaves of Mickey Eye #3 - Awesome, two Morrison books in the same week. Seaguuy has been wonderfully weird and twisted, and this is the last issue of this chapter. The first volume ended up making zero sense (one thing I love about this book is that it doesn't feel it has to), but it became more coherent around the last issue.

Secret Six #10 - After the last issue I am stuck on this book.

Superman : World of New Krypton #4 - Kryptonian Military Superman VS Green Lantern Hal Jordan!!! Hopefully the book delivers what the cover promises.

Atomic Robo : Shadow From Beyond Time #2 - Consistently enjoyable book in it's third hilarious volume. Keep it up :-)

It’s another all DC week for me unless something jumps out at me from the new release or trade wall. And…since there was a holiday this week, new comics are on Thursday instead of Wednesday. In other words, reviews may be a bit behind due to the delay. Click below for this week’s titles :

Most Anticipated Book of the Week :

Green Lantern #41 – Hopefully we get the backstory about Agent Orange in this issue. He is probably one of the most interesting characters in the Green Lantern universe lately and we know nothing about him. Also, I just saw the variant cover by Rodolfo Migliari (pictured to the left), which is pretty sweet and may find it's way into my variant collection. The War of Light continues, and Blackest Night is coming…..


The Rest :

Final Crisis Aftermath : Ink #1 – I’m going to give this s flip-through while I’m at the shop, but I’ll only buy it if it seems interesting or the art really grabs me.

Gotham Gazette : Batman Alive #1 – Will this be full of Commissioner Gordon’s relief that Batman is back and he doesn’t have to do police work? Just kidding, these tie-ins have been decent so far.

Justice Society of America #27 – The first issue without Geoff Johns. Now begins my countdown as to whether I’ll keep this on the pull list or not. Looks like Jerry Ordway is doing both art and writing duties for this one, so that’s not too bad.

Superman #688 – Not bad, not bad. Although out of all the Superman titles this one teeters on the edge of being dropped. I just don’t care that much about Mon-El or the Guardian but the story is decent and the art is pretty good.

Wonder Woman #32 – I’ll say it again, this has been a consistently good book every month. After last month’s revelations, I’m curious to see how this pans out.

Looking Forward to Wednesday (5/20/2009)

It’s back to a normal work schedule for me this coming week which means I have off on Wednesday and can spend a little time at the comic shop again :-) 6 books that I’m looking for this week, and...what is this???....3 non-DC books! Wow, still nothing from Marvel that’s getting me interested but we’ll see what happens. First Impressions won't be up until at least Thursday morning since we're finally going to go see Star Trek tonight. Click below for the books :

Most Anticipated Title of the Week :

Batman : Battle for the Cowl #3 : Curious to see where they take the ending of this series. I’m kind of worried now after the Oracle debacle, but it should be good. I usually don’t pick up variant covers but I saw the Tony Daniel variant of Jason Todd and it’s pretty sweet. I'm just really hoping that if they don't make Jason the new Batman (which is highly likely that he won't be Batman), that they at least keep him around as a solid villain for Dick (who is more than likely going to be the new Batman). Everyone chant it with me : Ja-Son-Todd! Ja-Son-Todd!

The Rest :

Final Crisis Aftermath : Dance #1 : 2 for 2 so far on the Final Crisis Aftermath books. I liked the Super Young Team in Final Crisis and I want to see more. That’s about it.

Supergirl #41 : After last month’s “What the Hell??” ending I need an explanation.

Complete Dracula #1 : I’m testing this one out, it sounds pretty cool, a faithful adaptation of Stoker’s original Dracula story in comic book form.

GI Joe #5 : This has been great so far, enough said.

Transformers : All Hail Megatron #11 : And this, where do I even start?? This book is in the running for my Best Title of the Year. All Hell is breaking loose right now and they just added a few more issues to this mini, so hopefully they will do something different in the end. Looking Forward to Wednesday - 5/13/2009

Due to all fo the prom business and my insane work schedule right now, I have lost track of the days and am posting this really late. Also due to my real job, I won't be making it to the comic shop this week. Look for reviews of this week's books next week in a giant double week review spectacular! Until then, this is what I wish I was able to pick up on Wednesday :

Most Anticipated Book:

Green Lantern Corps #36 - Sodam Yat continues to deal with his narrow minded people on Daxam, and the Sciencell riot on Oa continues. I'm expecting much death and destruction from this phenomenal series.

The Rest :

Action Comics #877 - Last issue's fight was brutal, I'm really enjoying the fill-in heroes of Flamebird and Nightwing while Superman is lpaying on New Krypton.

Secret Six #9 - Interested to see how they tie this into Battle for the Cowl, and hopefully Bane has something to do with it.

Oracle : The Cure #3 - Hmmmm..will Barbara walk again, will Calculator's daughter die, or will he become an even cooler villain with the Anti-Life Equation? Decent mini-series that ends with this issue.

GI Joe : Cobra #3 - This series is brutal and fun. It's nice to see things from the bad guy's side of the fence for a change, and get a better understanding of the inner workings of Cobra.

Final Crisis Aftermath : Escape #1 - This seems strange. But every preview has me more interested in this title. Run! was good, so let's see if we can go 2 for 2 with the Final Crisis tie-ins.

Looking Forward to Wednesday - 5/6/2009

Another big week coming up for me at the comic shop with 2 tie in issues, 2 first issues and a few others that I’m looking forward to. My wife’s Violet Lantern shirt should also be in this week so we can have our very own War of Light at home since we now have the Black, Yellow and Violet Lantern Corps shirts :-) Click below for this week’s titles:

Most Anticipated Book of the Week :

Power Girl #1:

I’ve been waiting for this title to release for what seems like forever. Amanda Conner drawing Power Girl is just awesome. From the previews that have been stuck into the back of random DC books over the past month or so, it looks like Power Girl can, hopefully, finally play a major role in the DC universe. I know she had a large role in Infinite Crisis due to her Earth 2 lineage, and she chaired the JSA but I'm curious to see how they develop her character in her own title. I can't remember if this is an ongoing book or a mini-series, though.

The Rest :

Battle for the Cowl : The Network – When will these one shots end?? I guess here, because the 3rd and final issue of Battle for the Cowl comes out next week.

Final Crisis Aftermath : Run #1 – I’m curious about these. The 52 Aftermath titles were hit or miss, but I am interested to see where they take things with these different minis. The only one I will probably not be picking up is Ink, I have little to no interest in Tattooed Man

Flash Rebirth #2 – Bring it on, can’t wait for more of this book. Although I had some concerns with the first issue, I’m waiting until I'm through the 2nd issue to see how I really feel about it.

Seaguy : The Slaves of Mickey Eye #2 – The first volume was ultimately strange. The second volume, Slaves of Mickey Eye, has begun by upping the ante in the absurdity. Definitely a fun read that twists your mind around a little.

Superman : World of New Krypton #3 – Great series so far, hopefully it continues that way because we have a long way to go until the end of this 12 issue run.

Atomic Robo : Shadow From Beyond Time #1 – This title is just old school comics fun. The first two stories were very well done and filled with great humor, can't wait to see what Red 5 has ins store for us this time.

Looking Forward to Wednesday (4/29/2009)

Most Anticipated Book of the Week:

Green Lantern #40:

Another GL comic already?? Wasn’t expecting this so quickly, but who am I to complain when blessed by the scheduling gods? Last issue was an excellent intro to the Orange Lantern Corps and hopefully this issue will have more of them and less of the Guardians bickering at Jordan for trying to save the universe. Still the best book DC has to offer and with every issue we creep closer to Blackest Night.

The Rest :

Battle for the Cowl: The Underground: Getting a bit tired of these tie-ins but my insane need to collect all of something is making me continue the purchases.

Final Crisis: Legion of Three Worlds #4: Hmmmmm…I seem to remember that Geoff Johns and George Perez collaborated on a comic about 3 decades ago that seemed to involve someone named Superboy Prime and something else it was tying into. Final…..Crisis? Was that it? I will definitely need to re-read the first 3 issues to catch up.

Justice Society of America #26: Ah, I feel this may be the end, my friend. The last story arc kind of lost the magic in my opinion. Yes I know that Black Adam lost his magic, but I meant it in a more personal way. I think this is Geoff Johns’ last issue on the title and I’ll wait and see what the new team brings. Hopefully it will not become another Justice League.

Superman #687: The continuing adventures of Mon-El and The Guardian! Two characters that I couldn’t have cared less about before this story. So far so good at keeping my interest while Superman is visiting New Krypton.

Wonder Woman #31: The Olympian is here! Zeus is saying that Wonder Woman and her Amazon friends can rest their pretty little heads now that the men are here to handle bidness! Somehow I think that’s not going to be the case. Consistently great book every month.

Also, rumor has it, that my Black Lantern t-shirt will be in this Wednesday. So, expect me to put it on and begin wielding the power of death all over the RiverWest neighborhood. Watch out artsy neighbors and people walking your small yipping dogs! That means you, Papi and Waffle!
