The slowest (and cheapest) week that I’ve had in a while, but with 4 purchases there were 4 solid books, with one of those just being phenomenal. Click below for First Impressions :
Green Lantern #43 – Wow. Was not expecting Black Hand to….just, wow. And where the hell did The Predator come from and who does it belong to?!?!? You got some ‘splaining to do Mr. Johns.
Batman #688 – Hmmmm….smiling Batman. Now wonder Two-Face isn’t convinced it’s the same guy.
Wednesday Comics #1 – Surprisingly enjoyable, gather great creators and put them together in one place = new weekly addition to the pull list.
Superman : World of New Krypton #5 – Not a bad end to the first part, panel layouts were confusing, though.

Just popped in to say I *LOVED* Wednesday Comics. Not all of the featured strips are winners (Teen Titans is clearly not for me, and Wonder Woman, while admirably experimental, hurt to read), but as a whole I just adore it, from the creators to the bizarre character choices (yes, Neil Gaiman's Metamorpho). Love it. Collector-types worried about it should know that it fits a silver age-size bag and board perfectly, by the way. I'm tempted to buy a bunch of copies and just leave them places like waiting rooms or add them to the trick-or-treat stack; maybe an actual young person will read it.
Johns was very much on his game on Green Lantern, I agree. Nice character piece on the Black Hand, and well structured to boot. I imagine that was a difficult script to break.
To sum up: read WEDNESDAY COMICS.
