New Comic Book Day Randomness - Ice Cream Review

After a mildly annoying day at work yesterday I called my wife and said "Let's go fly kites down at the lakefront".  How does this lead to me reviewing ice cream?  Read on...

Since my store has an outdoor entrance and is not in a typical mall setting (Bayshore represent!) I kept standing out front of the door during slow periods and couldn't help noticing how gorgeous it was outside.  You see, here in Wisconsin, you go through such a stupid winter period that you almost forget that there can be really nice weather here (for a few days anyway).

So I pick up Liz and we head down to Kite Flying Park (aka Veteran's Park) on Milwaukee's lakefront.  They have huge open spaces and a sweet kite store where you can not only buy kites but snacks and stuff as well.

Just as we arrived and we pulled one of our kites from the trunk of my car (yes, we keep kites in the trunk always) the wind immediately died down.  After sitting on a picninc table watching our kite sit on the grass we decided to head for ice cream at the kite store.

Liz went for her usual Rainbow Sherbert.  I passed on a flavor actually called Superman (red, yellow and blue) and decided to go for the interesting amalgam called Mint Oreo.

I love mint chocolate chip ice cream.  I love cookies and cream ice cream.  Now, how could this mixture be bad?  It can't.  As I was enjoying the tasty treat, I said "This ice cream is awesome, it's so awesome I'm going to review this on my blog."  As my wife looked at me with her usual tolerance of my idiocy, I made a mental note to actually do this today because she probably thought I wouldn't.  Here she is chillin' out all pregnant-like at the park.

The ice cream was a perfect mixture of mint and cookies, with large chunks of Oreo throughout.  I opted for the waffle cone which I observed is an incorrect name.  A true "waffle" cone should be an Eggo waffle in cone shape filled with ice cream, these are more like a pizzelle, a traditional Italian flat cookie.  Those unfamiliar with the pizzelle, I feel sorry for you.  My grandmother makes these by the ton around holidays as does my mother.  Since my sister is fairly useless in the kitchen I'll have to get my wife into making them to carry on this fine culinary tradition.

Anyway,  fantastic flavor from the ice cream shop at Gift of Wings kite shop.  I will have to try the Superman flavor next time and maybe I can come up with a Batman flavor somehow....maybe Lemon Yellow ice cream with chocolate swirls and chocolate bats in it.  And yes dear, I will review ice cream on my blog :-)  Happy New Comic Book Day everyone!

This divergence into non-comics/nerd-related ephemera is strange and off-putting. All I saw was "BLAH BLAH BLAH Superman BLAH BLAH BLAH Batman." Please do not refer to the real world, nourishment, or child-bearing in your future posts. If I wanted to know about those things, I would actually talk to the people around me about their "lives." ... If you could work in grenn, you could call the Batman flavor "Bat-mint."

Your information on the cone interests me as I like the 'waffle' cone as well and finding out the proper information regarding it... I think I learned something...

If I can educate as well as entertain, then all of this typing is worth it :-)
